The tentative   twisting of fiber into thread and the  the first Interlooking of yarn to form fabricwere the beginning of one of the most significant landmarks in man's history. Weaving has many faces. It is a craft, a  medium from working directly with fundamental  materials to create joyfull mixture of textures and colors, to feel the accomplishment of mastering the toolsand learning the step andto explore the discipline of craftmanship.

It's an art as expresssion of our time, which can have brillance of the painting, the dimension of sculpture, the shape of inventions,and the the form of imaginations. It is  functional, intimately related to us through our  daily use of fabrics. It is an industrial product made speedly by the power loom, but  unchanged in its basicconstruction and interlocking of thread , and it is as individual as its  its creator will make it. It is a tool for the educator  and a technique for the therapist; it is romantic and sober, ancient and contemporary.

As with all craft, fundamental and theeory must be learn before the full range of creative possibilities can be embraced . But invention can start togother with teaming , and technical perfection does not have to be dull.This  book is a guide, intended  to open doors to as many faces  of weaving as knowledge , imagination , and inspiration can conceive.

La tentative de torsion de la fibre en fil et le premier assemblage de fils pour former un tissu ont été le début de l'un des jalons les plus importants de l'histoire de l'homme. Le tissage a plusieurs visages. C'est un métier, un moyen de travailler directement avec des matériaux fondamentaux pour créer un joyeux mélange de textures et de couleurs, de ressentir l'accomplissement de maîtriser les outils et d'apprendre le pas et d'explorer la discipline de l'artisanat.

C'est un art comme expression de notre temps, qui peut avoir l'éclat de la peinture, la dimension de la sculpture, la forme des inventions, et la forme des imaginaires.Il est fonctionnel, intimement lié à nous à travers notre utilisation quotidienne des tissus. C'est un produit industriel fabriqué rapidement par le métier à tisser mécanique, mais inchangé dans sa construction de base et son emboîtement de fil, et il est aussi individuel que son créateur le fera. C'est un outil pour l'éducateur et une technique pour le thérapeute ; il est romantique et sobre, ancien et contemporain.

Comme pour tout métier, les fondamentaux et la théorie doivent être appris avant de pouvoir embrasser toute la gamme des possibilités créatives. Mais l'invention peut commencer avec l'équipe, et la perfection technique ne doit pas être ennuyeuse.
